About
Our mission is more than words. We always aim to prevent and relieve suffering with every action. The Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to people affected by disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families.
The Red Cross is not a government agency. The Red Cross is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission.

Volunteer
Every day Red Cross volunteers provide critical services such as helping victims of fires, floods, storms and other disasters; staffing blood drives; supporting members of the military and their families; and providing lifesaving training in CPR and water safety. It is through the time and care of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things. The American Red Cross of Alabama and Mississippi is always looking for people with various backgrounds, talents and skill levels. Volunteers are a part of everything we do, and there's a volunteer opportunity for everyone.
