About
The Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center is a state-funded program dedicated to providing supplemental educational and supportive services to children of migratory agricultural and fishing workers across Mississippi. To ensure students stay on grade level despite frequent moves, the center delivers direct tutoring, academic advocacy, free school supplies, and supplemental learning materials. They run summer and after-school instructional programs that combine English language development with math, science, and life skills for pre-K through high school students. The organization also empowers families by offering adult ESL classes, high school equivalency preparation, and workshops that teach parents how to advocate for their children's education. Furthermore, the center connects families to local medical, dental, and social services to eliminate healthcare barriers that impact school attendance.
